Guided Poetry
1. Line one contains a personification describing something in nature.
(example - The wind called to me in a gentle way.) - Personification is giving human traits to inanimate objects.
2. Line two contains a metaphor. (example - Its voice was my captain.) Metaphor is a direct comparison without using "like" or "as".
3. Line 3 contains alliteration. (example - The commands kept coming.) Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds.
4. Line 4 contains a simile. (example - I was like a helpless child, whining.) Simile is a comparison using "like" or "as".
5. Line 5 uses assonance. (example - I cried out to the sky, "Why? Why?") Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds.
